Review: Lemony Snickett’s Ersatz Elevator — Eugene Farle

9780064408646Title: A Series of Unfortunate Events: Ersatz Elevator
Author: Lemony Snickett

The Ersatz Elevator is about three orphans called, Klaus, Sunny, and Violet Baudelaires, who’s greatest fear was a terrible man named count Olaf.

The three Baudelaires had been moving to many places with different people since their parents had died in an outrageous fire.

Count Olaf was a terrible man. He always wanted to take the Baudelaire fortune. He also wanted to take the fortune of the Quagmire triplets, who were very good friends with the Baundelaires.

When the Baundelaires were moving in with their latest guardians, Olaf disguised himself as an auctioneer, and hides two of the Quagmire triplets in an empty elevator shaft in the same building that their guardians lived in. The Baundelaires new this and went down the shaft to go see their friends and help them escape.

In one point of the book someone says the empty shaft is very “Ersatz” which is why the book is called “The Ersatz Elevator”

My favorite part of the book is when sunny (who is a baby, by the way) uses her sharp teeth to bite a hole in one of the traps Olaf sets.

My favorite character in the book is probably Sunny, because she had her own kind of language which the author had to translate a lot. And her teeth came in handy quite a bit.

I recommend this book to someone who doesn’t mind a sad kind of book. I would say it’s for kids who are about eight or nine to about 13. I rate this book nine out of ten because it was entertaining, but I thought there was something missing, and its got to do with the ending.
